This top grade of Sencha tea consists of only the finest tea leaves picked early in the year. Careful processing results in beautifully shiny, dark green leaves indicating the high quality. This tea comes from the Uji region, where tea steaming process was first invented. It can be brewed in several different ways, ranging from ice cold water (part of a special tea ceremony) to hotter varieties. Due to its outstanding quality and richness, up to 5 brews are possible. These tea leaves are also eatable; they taste delicious with a drop of soy sauce, added after the final brew. The flavour is exquisite; the cold brew is unusually sweet for a Sencha but very pleasant to the palate, whereas the hotter brews contain a hint of typical Sencha bitterness.
